Blog 10
Some of Griswald's main arguments are about how people are happy about things that don't have to be real; just what the mind tells them is happening to make them feel happy. He gives examples about if a celebrity were to ask someone on a date and it really wasn't the actual celebrity but someone who was pretending to be this person and was really convincing. To that person who thinks he or she is being asked to go out on a date is really happy because they think that this person is really interested in them. But what they don't know is that it’s not the real person and Griswald asks the reader the question is this happiness? Even though it isn't the truth. He Also says that being happy is being content, which I agree with. If you’re content about your situation and you move along everyday with out a worry then you should be happy since you have nothing to stress about. What happiness means to me is pretty much what Griswald says about happiness and that is being Content. I live a normal life where I don't do much but go to school and hangout with friends but I'm fine with that so I guess I'm happy because I have yet to complain. Now if Morpheus were to come to me as he came to Neo I would think that he’s a crack head and wouldn't care and go back to living me normal life. Which in a way puts me where Cypher' wants to be plugged into the matrix and living in a fake reality I guess and yet still living a normal life that I'm okay with.

Essay 2
Dear Grant Committee
I think that it would be more reasonable to renovate public housing in the projects over elementary schools in our community. The reason being that they are unstable, not safe and unhealthy. Another Reason that this is the better proposal is that there are plenty of other elementary schools where children can commute to from this community.
The public housing projects need this renovating now in its time of need. The houses are so old that they are falling apart and can collapse at any moment. With the money we are receiving we can fix these houses that have leaking roofs when it rains and old wood that is rotting and breaking apart.
Further reasoning on why this would be the choice as mentioned is that these houses are not safe places to live in. The paint on the walls is chipping and this can be very harmful. Another thing that is unsafe about these houses is that at times you can smell gas leaking out of the stoves when they are turned off after use because the old pipes need to be replace since rust is causing holes in these old pipes.
My last argument as to why this is the better choice is that the houses have rodents and pest that make their way very easily inside due to all the old destroyed walls of these homes. This causes an unhealthy environment where food is easily contaminated and can cause those who are living in these houses to become sick or very ill. If houses are renovated, then the chances of rodents entering homes and finding their way to food that we eat can be reduced.
So for the best of the community renovating the houses would not only be the better choice, but would help those that live in these public housing projects that reside in this thriving community. Lastly make living environments cleaner and safer.

Dear Dean
I was informed through announcement that our school received a large grant and that two possible ways of spending this money were made. I think that using the money on creating a video game lounge with televisions and with gaming platforms such as the wii and playstation 3 would be the better choice because it can teach us about what today’s technology has to offer, are time consuming and will keep kids off the street, and some people do not own these platforms for games at home.
Having a lounge with a either a playstation 3 or a wii be a thrilling experience. Unlike board games these platforms are advanced and are composed of a lot of popular existing technology that we use. For playstation 3 many exciting features can be used and learned. Some of these features are Blue-ray where you can watch movies in high quality, then there is the playstation network where you can purchase movies, video games and TV shows, and Wi-Fi which is used almost everywhere around to world to connect to the internet wirelessly. As for the Wii you have a sensor that monitors your movement and it incorporates that in to game play which is a new style of being fit and playing your favorite games.
Another reason why having this lounge would be a good choice is because it attracts people to spend time in the lounge and keeps them off the street. This is good because they can avoid dangers of hanging around streets or just so kids can stay out of trouble and not do anything unlawful like joining gangs. Having this lounge is a great way of spending time in between classes or after school.
Also a good thing about having these gaming systems available at school is that not everyone has them at home so having that at school makes them have something to look forward to on their free time while at school. This is great because often families can’t afford these expensive gaming devices and people get left out of the new trend of gaming and how some people spend time and relax while playing with others that are socially connected through games.
So as for which would be the better choice of how to invest the money received from this grant, in my opinion a game lounge with either a Playstaion 3 or wii would be the better choice.

Essay 4
In today’s society the way we live life is very different to what you might see in a reality television show. Our lifestyles are determined by free will and examples that are set by others. But what if someone was in control of all that was going on around you and how what people interacted with you? As if they were playing god of this made up world where a director would be in charge of everything from weather to time and all of what goes on inside this fake world. It would probably be wrong for anyone to do this to a person. This leads me to “The Truman Show.”
The Truman Show was a quiet interesting film that made me think about things in regard to the how a television network can play god on a series and how some of the reality shows we see today are fixed for drama and other elements to give their viewers a thrill while watching these shows. For example a show like “The Real World” where random people are put to live in a random house with each other and have to adapt to their environment and learn to live with each other. In a way you can say that the producer of the real world would be playing god by setting up this environment for the cast of “The Real World” to live in and also having it monitored for a series. But the differences between “The Real World” and “The Truman Show” is that, what ever happens while the real world's cast is in public is not fixed and there is always chance for the unexpected to happen like a fight between a cast member and a random person at a club or something of that matter, which would not be a fixed situation.
Christof of “The Truman Show” plays god 100%. With the power to control the weather to controlling life all around the main character Truman Burbank. Although Truman thinks he might be living a regular life he is unaware that he is being watched by the world as he lives in a staged world set up to revolve around him and doesn't know it. Christof refers to the real world as a sick place and that Seahaven is the way the world should be and also that he's given Truman the opportunity to live a normal life. In a way it was a normal for Truman but, what do the people who are watching this man who is unaware that he is part of a set think? like what kind of lives they are living and how they can relate to what goes on in Seahaven? There is no one playing god in their world as Christof is pretty much doing for Seahaven. The major difference between Seahaven and the world as it is today comes down to fate and how it’s not Truman’s fate to live in this staged world and how he has no choice.
If I were in Truman’s position and was presented the choice to remain in Seahaven, a place where I would have been promised that I would have nothing to fear or to enter into another world that I know little about, I would leave to this normal world because after realizing that my life was part of a show and all my decisions are staged I would feel as if I were a lab rat for an experiment. With that being said when Truman finally exits Seahaven, what I think he would expect to find is a completely different world where everything that happens is based upon free will and not br some director of a show who you know nothing of and makes everything happen accordingly to how he wants it to. So if Truman really wanted to go to Fiji he would be able to when he wanted and once he got there do what ever he wants.

We may never know.

I read your e-mail that you sent me and I think that you should continue living in this reality and not concern yourself about evil aliens. Reason being that how do you know you can trust this man Arkon? And if he is telling the truth what does it have to do with you? And lastly why should you worry about questioning the reality you live in?
How did you meet this man? Also how do you know he is telling the truth? These are things that you might want to consider. What if Arkon is trying to harm you some how? Before you go about with the dicision you make upon reading this ask yourself these questions about this mysterious man Arkon who knows of the alien manipulators that control this reality.
Also Joe Bob, What if Arkon is trying to harm you? You don’t really know this man that is what I’m going to assume because if he was a closer friend of yours you wouldn’t have to address me through e-mail for answer. Be careful of trusting this man if you ignore my response, because he might be a killer or some one who is crazy in the head. Another thing is why is Arkon telling you this and not another person? Why are you so special? Think this through.

Blog 9
The Matrix was an unusual film that put the world as we know it in a split reality between the real world and the matrix. After watching the Matrix I was kind of confused about what the matrix was really about, but after giving deep thought to the matrix, I came to the conclusion that the matrix was a world sort of in your mind that was linked with other people through a computer system. Also once in the matrix what ever your mind though as to perhaps rules of gravity and speed, could be bent or even broken as long as your mind isn't set to a limitation of the matrix world and the real world, anything was possible. Another film much like the matrix some how was The Truman Show. This movie relates to the matrix because the main character is sort of like Neo from the matrix, who is living in the fake world (Matrix) and has no idea that there is another world out side of this matrix which is the real world. The only difference is that the in the matrix you can do anything you set your mind to and in The Truman show its a normal person living a normal life that is controlled by another person who lives in the regular world. The matrix still confuses me and makes me wonder, What if the world that I were living today was a fake world? Or if this is the real world is there another world that we can access as they access what appeared to be our world in the matrix and where what is possible is all a matter of putting your mind to it? Unfortunately some of these answers we shall never know....

If I were in the Socrates' cave, I think that I would be in the stage of a prisoner who is still changed inside the cave. The reason that I think that I'm in this stage is because I can relate where I am right now in the world and being a student for almost all of my life to almost as if I were following a set of rules for this world where all that I know as what life in this world is, is studying. Right now I'm still in this cave but in the future I will be released from this cave to a new world were everything is about working and being on your own. Further more at the conclusion of my experiences in the cave where life was once just studying, The experiences that I will have learned from the working World will seem vague to any one who is in the other world where their prior objective was to study and that is what was expected and coded for that world's civilization. If I were to find myself in a position where I would be able to re-enter studying and explain all the great things of perhaps achieving goals and what its like to not have to study, someone who is world is studying will be lost and just think that you are crazy. For example in the world we live in today adults with children are often hard working parents that have gone through the studying phases of there life to be at where they are now. But if they were to explain what they do and all of their experiences to lets say an 8 year old child who is learning how to do many new things and study, They would probably look at you like you were from another planet and would have no idea what your talking about which would almost be like Socrates' cave where the prisoner that was set free joins the old prisoners, but what the chained prisoners know and believe wouldn't follow up with what the independent or ex prisoner has to tell them that the other world has to offer.
